Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

OwlRoutine ("we", "us", "our") is an alarm clock and sleep-routine application available on iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how you can have it deleted.

By using OwlRoutine, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

If you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Authentication provider (email/password, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In)

You can use core alarm features without an account; an account is used to sync your routine, stats, and rewards across devices.

2.2 Alarm and Routine Data

As you use the App, we collect and store:

  • Your alarms (times, labels, repeat days, sounds, and selected dismiss missions)
  • Wind-down sessions and bedtime checklist completion
  • Daily sleep scores, streaks, and consistency history
  • Whether an alarm was dismissed cleanly, snoozed, or struggled
  • Coins earned, rewards unlocked, badges, and selected themes or avatars

2.3 Camera and Photos (Photo-Proof Missions)

Only if you choose a Photo mission, the App requests permission to use your device camera so you can snap a photo to dismiss the alarm. These photo-proof images are used solely to confirm you completed the mission and are processed on your device. We do not use mission photos for advertising, facial recognition, or any unrelated purpose, and we do not sell them. If you never select a Photo mission, no camera access is requested.

2.4 Custom Avatar Photo

If you choose to upload a custom photo for your profile avatar, that image is associated with your account so it can be displayed back to you in the App.

2.5 Notifications

The App requests notification permission so alarms and reminders can ring and alert you. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings, though this will affect how alarms work.

2.6 Device and Technical Data

We may collect:

  • Device identifiers
  • Operating system and version
  • App version
  • Crash logs and performance data

2.7 Purchase Data

Subscription and purchase status is managed via RevenueCat, which may process anonymised purchase data. All payment information is processed directly by Apple or Google — OwlRoutine does not store your payment details.


3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its alarm and wind-down features
  • Calculate your sleep scores, streaks, and report insights
  • Award coins, badges, and rewards
  • Process subscriptions and manage account access
  • Send alarms, reminders, and optional notifications (with your permission)
  • Monitor app performance and fix bugs
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. How We Store Your Data

Account and routine data synced to the cloud is stored securely with access controls so that you can only access your own data. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Alarm configuration and mission photos used purely for dismissal are handled on your device.


5. Data Retention

  • Account data and routine data are retained for as long as your account is active.
  • Photo-proof images used to dismiss an alarm are transient and are not retained as part of your long-term history.
  • When you delete your account, all associated data — including account information, alarms, sleep history, rewards, and any custom avatar photo — is permanently deleted.
  • Anonymised, aggregated analytics data that cannot identify individual users may be retained for service improvement.

6. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

  • In the App: Go to Settings → account options and choose to delete your account.
  • By email: Contact hello@mcdevlabs.com to request account and data deletion.

Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data from your device. To remove data synced to your account, delete your account as described above.


7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Cloud database & authentication — for secure account data storage and sign-in
  • RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management (receives anonymised purchase data)
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution and payment processing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.


8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Control camera access at any time in your device settings (only used for Photo missions)
  • Control notifications through your device's notification settings
  • Delete your account and all data from within the App or by email
  • For users in applicable jurisdictions (e.g., GDPR, CCPA): you have the right to access, correct, export, or request deletion of your data by contacting hello@mcdevlabs.com

9. Children's Privacy

OwlRoutine is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@mcdevlabs.com.


10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
